The second episode of a new music podcast that takes place on a solar fuelled designer boat in the Cheung Chau harbour. We aim to fill the vessel with music and conversations about how music keeps us alive.
Each episode will features Hong Kong musicians who share personal stories and play music in a unique and intimate setting to a small live audience.
Gwenji, born Ho Gwenji Billie, is a Hongkongese indie-folk singer-songwriter. Formerly half of the folk duo Mothgown, Gwenji officially goes solo in 2021 and makes her debut with the top-streamed, charts-listed single Don’t. Gwenji writes whenever the music in her head and the voice in her heart spurs, pouring out every ounce of her true self.
John Prymmer tried out for his first music audition at the age 13 and has never looked back. John graduated from Youngstown State University and played music in order to work his way through school. Over the years, John has travelled across the US with different bands and has learned the art of running sound by playing music and working closely with sound technicians and studio engineers. Today John is one of the owners of The Wanch, home of live music in Hong Kong since 1987, offering original music showcase nights, the top local covers bands and jam sessions. John, along with Tatsuya and Roy, takes care of the sound for the performers on a nightly basis. John is also frontman of one of Hong Kong’s most favourite bands, Don’t Panic (est. 2002), where he is lead vocalist and guitarist.
Luk Long-man, aka Longman, is a Hong Kong-based musician and sound artist. Trained as an erhuist, he has been fascinated by both the generative potential of computer music and the wonder of natural soundscapes, which unlock him to a broad range of materials and their interplaying possibilities. Seeking to extend the sonic experience with technology, his current practices include Ambisonics/ spatial sound design, audiovisual performance, VR/ sound installation, oscilloscope animation, and more..
