Dried Fish

Michael Wolf, Dried Fish #5.jpg

Michael Wolf showed for the first time his series of work: 'Dried Fish' at Cheung Chau Wave 2017.

Wolf is well known for exploring Hong Kong's identity through various projects mainly exploring its urban culture and cityscapes. This time Wolf turns his attention to objects that are quintessential to Hong Kong's food culture: dried fish. Each specimen is displayed in oversized prints floating in mid-air accentuating its translucent nature while revealing its smallest details.

Michael Wolf has published his photo series that explore interesting aspects of the urban phenomena in more than 30 photo books, including his celebrated series 'Architecture of Density' and 'Informal Solutions.' Born in Germany and worked as a former photojournalist in Europe and the US, Michael Wolf has since turned his attention to capturing the overlooked qualities of big cities. In particular, his fascination with the city of Hong Kong – where he is based since 1994 – has produced his most important bodies of work.

Michael spent the last 2 years of his life living on Cheung Chau - we are proud to have known him as an artist, friend and part of our island community.
